In the Long Beach real estate market there were a total of 265 sales in Octoiber 2008, up from 195 last month. The average selling price for a single family home that period was $482,239.00 and average time on the market was 69 days. Average selling price this month was about $50,000.00 higher than last month. Several things can effect average price such as a higher number of "higher end" homes.

Long Beach Condos had an average sale price of $263,790.00 and were on the market for 75 days. This shows a $50,000.00 reduction over last months average condo price.

ONE YEAR AGO -   Total sales were 158. There were 98sales of single family homes with an average sale price of $663,804 for the same month last year. Average time on the market was 63 days.

Condos saw 60 sales and had an average sale price of $398,283.00 while on the market for 68 days.

 

Certain sections of Long Beach experienced an increase in both sales and average selling price while other areas had a decrease in sales and average selling price.  It is a buyer's market, although with sales picking up that will change. U.S. News and World Report has said that Cal State Long Beach is one of the nation's best public universities with a Masters program.

Recreation
Long Beach's Naples area, complete with water canals, can be explored via a gondola ride or along its scenic sidewalks. You can also journey to nearby Catalina Island by boarding the Catalina Express. Sports are a major part of fun in Long Beach: Long Beach State Athletics has several NCAA Division I teams.
